From one surveyor to a nationwide team.

Our Managing Director began his career at a surveying firm that went into liquidation. Left without a role, but fuelled by a drive to deliver high-quality surveys, he set up as a one-man operation.

From day one, he delivered beyond expectations. Every client received not just a survey, but clarity, confidence and care. Demand quickly grew through word of mouth.

To maintain standards, he brought in surveyors who shared the same ethos. That marked the start of House Smart Surveying — built on strong values, exceptional service, and genuine customer focus.

Today we’ve grown steadily and built an outstanding reputation across the regions we serve. Despite the growth, we remain committed to our origins: quality, integrity and lasting relationships.

Our Managing Director set up as a one-man operation after the firm he worked for went into liquidation, determined to deliver the high-quality surveys clients deserved.

RICS Regulation
We formalised our standards as a RICS Regulated firm, backed by The Property Ombudsman redress scheme, giving clients the same protections as any chartered practice.
Autumn 2022
Word of mouth takes hold
With every client receiving clarity, confidence and care, demand grew fast — almost entirely through recommendations rather than advertising.
2023
The first regional team
Surveyors who shared the same ethos joined from across Greater Manchester and Yorkshire, and House Smart Surveying became a proper team rather than one person's diary.
2024–2025
Seven regional hubs
Local teams established from Newcastle down to the West Midlands, each one living and working in the areas they cover rather than travelling in from head office.
2026
Nationwide coverage
Today we cover England and Wales from our Bury head office, still run on the same principle we started with: tell people the truth about their homes.
